1 It’s mainly desert and grassland, with tropical rainforest in the north - a large country with a small population and a dry sense of humour. One of its animals is the quokka. People mainly live in two cities.

2 It is evenly populated throughout the land, shares lakes with its northern neighbour, has many states and a native animal is the coyote. The two largest cities are on the East and West coasts.

3 It is landlocked, has many high mountains and doesn’t really have one leader – it rotates leadership each year. There is lots of money there and its symbols on car registrations are CH.

4 It also has high mountains everywhere and is also landlocked but it is not rich. It isn’t even a nation because its northern neighbour claims sovereignty over it and even claims it doesn’t exist. There is an important religious man connected with it.

5 It is part of different world regions and yet the language is the same across the nation. It has a famous deep lake and its people are warm and friendly, although they don’t smile publicly. It’s tree is the silver birch.

6 It is like Australia topographically but it has far more blacks than whites. The whites come from two European nations and they had a very bitter war over who would rule the country. It has another independent country stuck right in the middle of it and it has three different capitals.

7 This country also has more than one capital – one administrative and one legislative. Its major city has many canals and is famous for being very free morally. Its national colour is orange.

8 This country’s national colour is also orange except that half the people don’t agree with this statement. It was very nearly wiped out years ago in a terrible accident.

9 The people of this country live mainly on two islands and the country is known as the Land of the Long White Cloud. It is famous for its sheep farming and dairy products but its sailors are world famous as well, winning many world events. Its rugby team is known as the All Blacks.

10 You might think this large country only exists for partying, playing football and for its dangerous fish in a huge river. It speaks Portuguese and its women are not really white.
